Having a strong sense of purpose is becoming one of the main goals of modern life. We have explored the importance of finding your purpose and working for it before, but there is still a great deal of discussion about what are the best tools or trends to find, develop and sustain personal meaning in all aspects of life.

Luckily for all of us, there is a global trend that is helping everyone find their purpose and expand their horizons, and it’s called eLearning.

It can be defined as the education and training process carried out online, and the fastest growing industry in the world. Only in Latin America, it is expected to see considerable growth; outpacing all other categories of learning and growing at an average rate of 23 percent per annum, it will reach $4.8 billion by 2020. Worldwide, the global eLearning Market is expected to reach $107 billion by the end of this year.

These numbers show that not only many people, but also companies and organizations, are taking advantage of the possibilities that eLearning has to offer. The elearning trends are increasingly popular because they bring multiple benefits for companies, employees and individuals, that range from increasing productivity and motivation to reducing costs and having a positive impact on sales and time management.

But how can a regular company benefit from it? The reduction of costs is one of the main reasons: Corporations are using elearning as their second most important method of training staff because it reduces operational costs by 50 to 70%. Adaptability to change is another important reason to use eLearning strategies, since companies and organizations that did have a strong learning culture did better in their market than those who do not. For example, these organizations are 46% more likely to be the leader in their industry, note a 34% increase in their ability to respond to the needs of the customer, and are 17% more likely to become the market share leader.

And the culture of eLearning is not only doing wonders for the financials of the companies: it is also empowering and motivating employees, who are 10% more likely to stay with their organization if there are professional growth opportunities available.

Not only is following e-learning trends the most effective way to motivate employees, but it also allows them to learn more efficiently. So how does this work? Pretty simple: Learners recall just 10% of what they read and 20% of what they hear. If there are visuals accompanying an oral presentation, the number rises to 30% and if they observe someone carrying out an action while explaining it, 50%. But learners remember 90% if they do the job themselves, even if it is only a simulation.

To give you an example, Google has already enrolled 80,000 of its employees in Udacity’s HTML5 course. This proves that adopting an eLearning strategy within companies ends up being a win – win situation, because it benefits both the general results of the company and enhances the motivation and sense of purpose of individuals.

But what can we learn from all this? Basically, that companies are made of people. Better people will bring better results, and eLearning is the perfect tool to achieve them. At Teachlr, we believe that companies should strive to empower and motivate their employees, and we want to help them do exactly that with Teachlr Organizations: an easy-to-use online school designed to deliver continuous corporate training, with optimized features for a better and more efficient learning experience.

Adaptability and response capacity are two assets that any great company has, but it is becoming more and more difficult to maintain high levels of creativity, motivation and innovation at all times. The world is changing pretty fast, and the main focus of companies and businesses has shifted towards creating a strong corporate identity through their workforce.
